Description: This images was entered into one of the monthly Challenges organized by ImagineFX Forums for May 2012. The title of the Challenge was a bit broad: The Founder. So I decided to go for an image of a Woman/Goddess (whatever you want to call it) creating the world/life as she walks. Her dress is meant to be part of the ground she walks amongst. The thread with all the entries and WIPs can be found here.

It is not clear what has happened here, but the place looks like is been like this for a while. I wanted to have another try at drawing a city. Most of the time taken to produce this image has gone into the central area of the buildings. First in getting the right perspective, and then using many photos to produce their texture. You can see in the link below a small Making of.

Working hours: 50 hours
Full version image (17.7 Mb)
Description: This image was done in Photoshop incorporating a couple of elements from photos (the window frame and shutters, although they contain additions of my own). The image was inspired by a photo of a woman in a magazine. To me, she looked lonely. In this image she appears also as if resigned to her fate. The title is supposed to inspire cold, in contrast with the warmish atmosphere used.

Captive
2011
Photoshop, Wacom Bamboo
Original File: 50cm x 70cm (118 pixels/cm resolution)
Working hours: 56 hours
A4 version image (2.57 Mb)
Full version image (13.0 Mb)
Description: The last sorcerer from a lost tribe has been tracked down deep into the woods by those who fear her kind. Her magic, lost in time, is encrypted in the tattoos she has over her body. The right combination of tattoos and magical artefacts brings forth magic fear by many. The magic flowing from her right arm tattoo to the rod triggers the turning on of the old magic stored on it. She faces her last moments as a free woman, been cornered, she has no option but to invoke the magic of the rod. By who, or how, she is captured, even though she has at her disposal the power to invoke two dragons, might be the topic of another drawing.

Zulu Witch Woman
2011
Photoshop, Wacom Bamboo
Original File: 70cm x 50cm (40 pixels/cm resolution)
Working hours: 28 hours
Description: This image was inspired by some photos we took while travelling around South Africa in November 2008. One of the days we came across a Zulu village were we spent the night. That evening we were taken to see the town's witch woman. I thought those images would be a good starting point to start applying what I had been reading about digital art. I wanted to pay attention only to her face, so I left the surroundings out.
